Welcome to Indian Bureau Of Mines

The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) established in 1948, is a multi-disciplinary government organisation under the Department of Mines, Ministry of Mines, engaged in promotion of conservation, scientific development of mineral resources and protection of environment in mines other than coal, petroleum & natural gas, atomic minerals and minor minerals. 

From a small beginning as a purely advisory body, the IBM has emerged into a premier national organisation involved deeply into the various aspects of the mineral industry. The current functions of IBM include promoting conservation of mineral resources by way of inspection of mines, geological studies, scrutiny and approval of mining plans and mining schemes, conducting environmental studies and environment related activities, evolving technologies for upgradation of low grade ores and identifying avenues for their utilisation, preparation of feasibility reports for mining and beneficiation projects, preparation of minerals maps and National Mineral Inventory of minerals resources; providing technical consultancy services to mineral industry, and functioning as a data bank for mines and minerals, and preparing of technical and statistical publications

OBJECTIVE

IBM Vigilance shall establish and continually improve Quality of Vigilance administration to enable people to work with equity, integrity and impartiality, in a fair & transparent manner upholding the highest ethical standards for the organisation.

STRUCTURE/FUNCTION

IBM Vigilance is headed by Shri Manish Bhimte, IRSME, Chief Vigilance Officer. Shri D.W. Parsodkar, Assistant Mining Geologist assists in the vigilance related work.

The functions of IBM Vigilance are broadly preventive in nature. The focus of IBM Vigilance is proactive i.e., towards facilitating the environment for enabling people to work with integrity, impartiality, in a fearless and transparent manner, upholding highest ethical standards for the organisation

SYSTEM OF GIVING COMPLAINTS

Provision has been made to receive the complaints related to vigilance matter through website. This is to bring the transparency in the system and expediting the processes. All complaints received through website are processed after confirming the veracity of the complainant and further action is taken as per laid down procedure. As per the guidelines of CVC, no action is taken on the anonymous / pseudonymous complaints if the complaints are of general nature and carries no verifiable facts.

GUIDELINES FOR LODGING COMPLAINT

  1. Complaint should be specific with relevant details like Tender/Supply Order/Work Order no. and date etc. in case of complaint related to Tenders.
  2. In case of complaints related to approval of Mining Plan/Scheme of Mining, the Mining Plan/Scheme of Mining ID no. should be mentioned.
  3. Correct name and address are mandatory for processing the complaint.
  4. No correspondence shall be entertained on the subject after lodging the complaint.
  5. In case it is found that complaint was false and harassment of officials has been caused, action may be taken against the complainant.
  6. The complaint having vigilance angle shall only be examined. The vigilance angle comprises of misuse of official position, demand and acceptance of illegal gratification, cases of misappropriation / forgery or cheating, gross and willful negligence, blatant violation of laid down systems and procedures, reckless exercise of discretion, delay in processing the cases, etc.
